Description
What kind of wine it is
Zorzettig Friuli Pinot Grigio is a still white wine that elegantly expresses the character of its region. Made from Pinot Grigio grapes, it appears a straw yellow colour with subtle amber highlights. The bouquet is marked by intense fruity aromas, with hints of acacia flowers and delicate notes of bread crust. On the palate, the wine offers a smooth and full-bodied sip, supported by harmonious balance and a pleasant freshness. Excellent as an aperitif, it proves versatile at the table, especially when paired with fish dishes, white meats, fresh cheeses and cured meats.
Where it comes from
This Pinot Grigio originates in Spessa di Cividale del Friuli, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The microclimate of this hilly area benefits from the protection of the Julian Alps from cold northern winds, while the influence of the Adriatic Sea moderates the temperatures. The vines grow on marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin. The particular soil composition plays a key role in the development of aromas, giving the wine a distinct minerality that perfectly balances the natural richness of the fruit.
How it is produced
Production begins in September with a manual harvest, aimed at selecting the bunches at ideal ripeness. In the winery, the Pinot Grigio grapes undergo a gentle pressing before white vinification, with no contact with the skins. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the integrity of the primary aromas. This is followed by a period of maturation in tank, interspersed with careful rackings, allowing the wine to achieve structural stability, aromatic clarity and full flavour harmony before bottling.
History and Curiosities
