Description
What kind of wine it is
Vezzoli Franciacorta Dosage Zero is a sparkling wine produced using the Traditional Method, with an essential and rigorous profile. Created from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, it displays a straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it is lively, with fresh aromas of grapefruit and pineapple intertwined with hints of wild berries and a delicate spiciness. On the palate, it shows great clarity, finishing with a deep hazelnut finish.
Where it comes from
It originates in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, Lombardy. The Vezzoli winery manages organically farmed vineyards, enhancing the geographical origin that brings out the qualities of Chardonnay and the structure of Pinot Noir. This sparkling wine rigorously reflects the Franciacorta terroir, representing a limited and sought-after production.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing. The musts ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures until spring. The base wines then form a harmonious blend for the bottle refermentation required by the Traditional Method. Ageing for around twenty months on the lees adds complexity, while the choice of zero dosage preserves the natural liveliness of the sensory profile.
History and Curiosities
Since 1994 in Erbusco, the Vezzoli family has been producing Vezzoli Franciacorta Dosage Zero following organic practices across their 63 hectares of land. Crafted using the strict traditional method, it boasts an artisanal production limited to 18,000 bottles. The 20-month ageing on the lees imparts a complex and elegant profile, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage that perfectly balances the liveliness of Chardonnay and the unmistakable character of Pinot Noir.
