Description
What kind of wine it is
Ninfa is an enveloping still red wine from the Marche region, a testament to the meticulous care of the Velenosi winery. This blend combines the distinctive qualities of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Syrah, offering a glass of intense ruby red with bright violet highlights. Its aromatic profile reveals deep scents of blackberry and cherry, enriched by notes of graphite, black pepper, tobacco and fresh balsamic hints. On the palate, it is warm, impactful and boasts a great gustatory progression. The bold structure is perfectly balanced by very fine and rounded tannins, which guide the tasting towards a long, consistently fruity finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes for this red wine come from estate-owned vineyards located in the areas of Offida and Castel di Lama. The vines grow at an altitude between two hundred and two hundred and fifty metres above sea level, sinking their roots into clay and limestone soils that give the wine its distinct structural precision. The rows, trained using the Guyot system, support the optimal development of the bunches until harvest. The multi-stage harvest respects the natural timing of each variety: operations begin in September for Merlot and Syrah, continue at the start of October for Cabernet Sauvignon and conclude mid-month with Montepulciano.
How it is produced
The vinification process begins with fermentation in steel tanks, followed by a carefully calibrated maceration on the skins. This extraction phase lasts about fifteen days for Merlot, extends up to twenty-five days for Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, and reaches a month for Montepulciano. Afterwards, the wine matures in new oak barrels for a period ranging from eighteen to twenty-four months, developing greater aromatic complexity. Only after the wood ageing are the different batches combined into the final blend, which then rests for a further three months in the bottle before completing its maturation journey.
History and Curiosities
Born from the passion of the Velenosi winery, founded in 1984, Ninfa is a prestigious Marche IGT that originates among the vineyards of Offida and Castel di Lama. Thanks to the expertise of oenologists Attilio Pagli and Filippo Carli, the project debuted with its first vintage in 2019. The exceptional quality is the result of a meticulous final blending after ageing and three months of rest in the bottle. This care ensures an outstanding stylistic consistency, offering a captivating red presented both in specific vintages and in intriguing timeless versions.

The heart of the company is located in the historic city of Ascoli Piceno, which is located in the region Marche at a distance of about 20 km from Adriatic Sea and at a height of 150/200 m above sea level.
The company's farms extend across the hills that surround the splendid valley of the Tronto river, which, thanks to its clayey and fertile soils, has always been suited to the cultivation of vines.
In addition to the four companies located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, there is a vineyard in the area of Ancarano (TE) and in the area of San Marcello (AN), between the Castelli di Jesi.
Since the beginning, the winery has achieved great success with journalistic criticism published in the most renowned national and international newspapers such as: W, Robert Parker, Red shrimp, Luca Maroni, AIS and many others.
