Description
What kind of wine it is
Extraordinary is a still red wine from the Marche region, created from a blend of Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Lacrima. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour, enhanced by lively violet reflections. The aromatic profile is deep and enveloping, dominated by notes of blackberry, cherry and strawberry, enriched with hints of white pepper and balsamic nuances of eucalyptus. On the palate, it is fresh and elegant, standing out for its powerful sip and remarkable gustatory progression. Its very fine tannic texture is complemented by a fruity finish, making it ideal for pairing with grilled red meats, porcini risottos and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards rooted in clay and limestone soils located in the municipalities of Monteprandone and Morro d’Alba. This particular geological formation, combined with an altitude between 200 and 250 metres, gives the wine a solid structure and precise aromatic definition. The Guyot training system promotes excellent vegetative balance to ensure regular ripening of the bunches. The Velenosi winery tends these vineyards with great care, aiming to fully enhance the native varieties to offer an authentic expression of the territory.
How it is produced
Production begins with a meticulous manual harvest, carried out at the beginning of September for Lacrima and Sangiovese and at the end of the month for Montepulciano. Each variety undergoes a separate fermentation in steel with macerations designed to extract the best characteristics of each grape. The wines rest individually in stainless steel tanks, with no use of barrels to preserve the absolute freshness of the primary aromas. The process concludes with blending and a bottle ageing of three months, a fundamental step to harmonise the entire organoleptic profile.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1984 from the passion of Angela and Ercole Velenosi, this seductive Marche IGT tells the story of the evolution of a winery devoted to excellence. The Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Lacrima grapes, carefully selected and hand-harvested, ferment separately in steel to enhance the purity of the terroir. After a meticulous blending and a measured period of bottle ageing, the wine reveals a character that has been awarded 92 points by James Suckling. Presented in an iconic golden bottle, it embodies an idea of affordable luxury, ideal for making every special occasion unforgettable.

The heart of the company is located in the historic city of Ascoli Piceno, which is located in the region Marche at a distance of about 20 km from Adriatic Sea and at a height of 150/200 m above sea level.
The company's farms extend across the hills that surround the splendid valley of the Tronto river, which, thanks to its clayey and fertile soils, has always been suited to the cultivation of vines.
In addition to the four companies located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, there is a vineyard in the area of Ancarano (TE) and in the area of San Marcello (AN), between the Castelli di Jesi.
Since the beginning, the winery has achieved great success with journalistic criticism published in the most renowned national and international newspapers such as: W, Robert Parker, Red shrimp, Luca Maroni, AIS and many others.
This is why it is present throughout the national territory with the collaboration of 85 agencies and abroad where it is present in 52 nations both in Europe and in the rest of the world.
Production to date is approximately 2.500.000 bottles and the expectations certainly don't stop there. Read more
