Description

What kind of wine it is

Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Cuvée del Fondatore Collezione Atelier Brut by Valdo is a sparkling wine from Veneto that embodies the excellence of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore area. This refined wine is crafted from a carefully selected blend of Glera and Chardonnay grapes, created to combine freshness and complexity. In the glass, it offers a rich and fine perlage, introducing an aromatic profile characterised by notes of ripe fruit, banana, hazelnut and a subtle hint of honey. On the palate, it is full, harmonious and enveloping, distinguished by a velvety sip that enhances the delicate spicy notes.

Where it comes from

The vines destined for this sparkling wine grow in the heart of the historic area, specifically in Valdobbiadene, at an altitude of around 250 metres. The vineyards benefit from excellent southern exposure, which is essential to ensure optimal ripening and a well-defined fruit expression. The clay soils, resting on a base of marine-origin sandstone, give the wine remarkable structure and exemplary palate clarity. It is in this highly suited geographical context that Valdo expresses its identity, creating a Prosecco Superiore capable of enhancing the natural characteristics of the Veneto region.

How it is produced

Production begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes in September. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the integrity of the primary aromas. The prise de mousse follows the long Charmat Method, with twelve months spent in autoclave and a further six months of rest to refine the texture of the bubbles. What makes the result unique is the Chardonnay, which matures separately in barrels for six months. This step enriches the whole with spicy nuances and hints of vanilla, ensuring impeccable balance and a long-lasting finish.

History and Curiosities

Valdo's history is the story of the Bolla family and a story of passion and entrepreneurial spirit. A story that spans three generations, strictly linked to the evolution of Prosecco and the magnificent land that acts as a stage to the family's wine-producing vocation, the Valdobbiadene.

It all stems from an insight had by the grandfather, Abele more than a century ago. This winery right up to it becoming leader and ambassador of Prosecco in the world.
