Description
What kind of wine is it
Tramin Pinot Grigio is a still white wine from Alto Adige, produced by Cantina Tramin exclusively from Pinot Grigio grapes. It appears a bright straw yellow. On the nose, there are notes of peach, green apple and citrus, with hints of white flowers and almond. The palate is fruity and pleasantly smooth, supported by a lively freshness and a touch of minerality. It finishes with a slightly savoury and medium-length aftertaste, ideal for seafood, vegetarian dishes and delicate starters.
Where does it come from
This white wine originates from the surroundings of Termeno, at altitudes between 200 and 400 metres. The vineyards benefit from a marked temperature variation, with days warmed by Mediterranean breezes and nights cooled by Alpine winds. The soil is characterised by calcareous elements, clay veins and gravelly matrices. The geological and climatic synergy gives the grapes a defined aromatic profile and encourages the development of a delicate minerality, offering a clear and authentic taste of its origin.
How is it produced
The vinification process begins with a rigorous manual harvest, followed by transporting the bunches in small containers to preserve the integrity of the berries. Once at the winery, the grapes undergo immediate gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by a partial malolactic fermentation which helps to soften the flavour profile. Ageing continues in steel tanks, a choice aimed at enhancing the purity of the primary aromas and preventing alterations. This approach ensures perfect harmony between the delicate residual sugar and the wine's lively acidity.
History and Curiosities
Born from the historic Cantina Tramin, founded in Termeno in 1898, this elegant Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC embodies the most authentic essence of the mountainous region. Under the careful supervision of oenologist Willi Stürz, the grapes ripen on calcareous soils, benefiting from Mediterranean warmth and the cool Alpine night breezes. The meticulous manual harvest and vinification in steel enhance its lively freshness and refined notes of peach and pear. The result is a soft and harmonious wine, able to enrich every toast with its unmistakable elegance.
