Description

What type of wine it is

Merus Pinot Bianco is a still white wine with an elegant and fresh profile, created by Tiefenbrunner. Produced from Pinot Bianco grapes grown in Alto Adige, it presents a bright straw-yellow colour. The bouquet opens with delicate floral scents, enriched by crisp notes of apple and tropical fruit. On the palate, it reveals a dry nature, supported by a lively acidity and a marked minerality that guide the sip towards a harmonious and perfectly clean finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes ripen at altitudes between 210 and 650 metres, in the territories of Cortaccia and Magrè. The hillside vineyards of Cortaccia take root in soils of morainic origin, rich in limestone gravel and dolomitic sands, while the valley floor sites in Magrè rest on sandy alluvial soils. This geological and altimetric synergy ensures optimal ripening, giving the wine the characteristic freshness and the precise territorial definition typical of the best expressions of Alto Adige.

How it is produced

The winemaking process aims to preserve the aromatic purity of the grape variety through careful management of every stage. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature within concrete vats for approximately ten days. This is followed by ageing on the fine lees for four months in stainless steel tanks, a practice that enriches the structure and provides a pleasant softness. This technical process defines the wine's perfect taste balance, keeping its dry character intact for an extremely crisp and clean finish.

History and interesting facts

The Merus Pinot Bianco reflects the centuries-old dedication of the Tiefenbrunner family, winemakers since 1848. Its Latin name, “Merus”, means “pure” and emphasises a refined single-varietal style, an authentic expression of the prestigious Alto Adige DOC. Since its first vintage in 1968, the grapes have grown at altitudes between 210 and 600 metres, amongst the gravelly and limestone soils of Cortaccia and the sandy soils of Magrè. The Schlosskellerei Turmhof winery thus crafts a wine that offers an unmistakable and vibrant varietal purity.
