Description

What kind of wine it is

The Linticlarus Chardonnay Riserva by Tiefenbrunner is a still white wine from Alto Adige, matured in small oak barrels, with a complex and elegant profile. In the glass, the Chardonnay opens with notes of flint and walnut, accompanied by hints of pear, quince and delicate floral nuances. On the palate, it reveals a velvety texture, supported by vibrant freshness and clear hints of lemon zest. The harmony between the structural weave and the acidity culminates in a pleasantly persistent finish, making it ideal to accompany white meats, lean fish, vegetarian dishes and cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Alto Adige, from the Niclara vineyards located near the renowned Vigna Au. The vines, facing south-east, grow at an altitude between 220 and 350 metres. The character of the sip is shaped by deep moraine soils, with a strong clay, limestone and saline component, essential for imparting pronounced minerality. The name Linticlarus pays homage to the ancient fortress of Castrum Linticlar, a testament to Tiefenbrunner's commitment to enhancing small plots and the particular pedoclimatic conditions of the area.

How it is produced

Production involves a gentle vinification of the Chardonnay grapes to preserve their aromatic integrity. The wine then matures in small oak barrels, an essential ageing process to enrich the body and confer smoothness, while maintaining a natural freshness. The rigorous management of the vineyards, characterised by low yields, ensures remarkable concentration. The precise balance between delicate tannins and acidity defines a well-balanced structural profile, offering a consistent and authentic interpretation of the winery's production philosophy.

History and Curiosities

The name Linticlarus pays homage to the ancient fortress of Castrum Linticlar, located above Castel Turmhof, as a testament to the deep connection with the territory of Niclara. Founded in 1848, the Tiefenbrunner winery has now reached its fifth generation, continuing to enhance small historic plots. Under the expert guidance of Stephan Rohregger, this Chardonnay Riserva embodies the spirit of South Tyrol in an absolute excellence, acclaimed by critics with four Bibenda bunches, two red glasses from Gambero Rosso and three red stars from Veronelli.
