Description
What kind of wine it is
Maramia Sangiovese by Tenuta Mara is a biodynamic red wine made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, cultivated in the Rubicone area. It appears a clear ruby red in the glass, heralding a complex bouquet of floral, fruity and spicy aromas. On the palate, it offers a consistent gustatory balance, with long persistence and continuous balsamic notes. Thanks to its harmonious structure, it is the ideal companion for succulent beef dishes, lamb, elaborate first courses and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vines grow in San Clemente, Emilia-Romagna, across twelve hectares managed according to strict sustainability principles. The soils, characterised by a deep clay-limestone matrix, give the wine a well-defined territorial character. The commitment to biodynamic viticulture allows the natural development of the vines without the use of synthetic substances. This deep connection between the grape variety and the soil ensures the wine has remarkable longevity, allowing it to evolve excellently over ten to fifteen years.
How it is produced
The harvest, carried out by hand, is followed by careful selection of the bunches. The grapes are transferred by gravity into truncated conical vats, where spontaneous fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts and without temperature control. After about a month of maceration on the skins, and without any filtration, the wine matures for sixteen months in French oak barrels, slowly ageing on the fine lees. A further period in the bottle completes its structure; it is recommended to decant for one hour to allow the wine to reveal its full aromatic breadth.
