Description
What kind of wine it is
Erse is a still organic rosé wine by Tenuta di Fessina, an authentic expression of Etna Rosato. The blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio releases clear aromas of black cherry and pomegranate, enriched by notes of dried flowers and acacia honey. On the palate, it stands out for its broad and savoury structure, supported by a pleasant acidity that accompanies the persistent finish. The organoleptic profile highlights a distinct mineral imprint, offering a fresh and extremely clean sip.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in Rovittello, on the north-eastern slope of Etna, at an altitude of about 700 metres. The volcanic soils give the wine a distinctive territorial character, ensuring freshness and gustatory tension. The vineyards are managed with a limited yield to encourage maximum aromatic concentration in the bunches. This meticulous approach allows for a limited production, aimed at fully enhancing the identity of the Sicilian terroir.
How it is produced
The harvest is followed by a careful selection of the bunches and a gentle destemming and crushing. The varieties are processed separately through a cold pre-maceration on the skins, ideal for a delicate and controlled extraction of colour. After blending, alcoholic fermentation takes place. Both the vinification process and ageing occur in stainless steel tanks, a fundamental technical choice to preserve the fragrance of the fruit and the clarity of the sip.
History and Curiosities
The volcanic vineyards of Rovittello were planted in 2007. Overseen by oenologist and agronomist Benedetto Alessandro, these 18-year-old vines ensure a yield of 6,000 kg per hectare. This meticulous agricultural management results in an extremely limited production of only 5,000 bottles per year.
