Description

What kind of wine it is

Santa Barbara Spumante Metodo Classico Brut Rosé is an elegant expression from the Marche region, the result of a harmonious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Produced strictly according to the Traditional Method, it reveals itself in the glass with a delicate onion skin hue and a fine, persistent mousse. The aromatic profile releases clear notes of small red fruits, which precede a savoury, rich and enveloping palate. This cuvée is ideal for accompanying an entire meal, perfectly complementing starters, lean fish, shellfish, cheeses, poultry and vegetarian dishes.

Where it comes from

This sparkling wine is born in the heart of the Marche, in the hilly area of Barbara, in the province of Ancona. The vines grow at around three hundred metres above sea level, benefiting from an optimal south-west exposure that ensures even ripening of the grapes. The composition of the moraine soil gives the wine a natural harmony of flavour. Under the guidance of oenologist Pierluigi Lorenzetti, the Santa Barbara winery produces this limited edition, guaranteeing constant technical precision and meticulous agronomic care.

How it is produced

The process follows the timing of bottle refermentation typical of the Traditional Method. After the first fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine undergoes a careful ageing on the lees. This stage defines the structure of the cuvée, enhancing the finesse of the palate and the complexity of the aromas without compromising its purity. The brut dosage accentuates its freshness, offering a taste consistent with the olfactory sensations. Thanks to its excellent craftsmanship, this sparkling wine stands out for its good longevity and is regularly praised by industry critics.

History and Curiosities

Born in the Marche region from the historic Santa Barbara winery, active since 1984, this refined cuvée embodies a genuine passion for the traditional method. Under the guidance of oenologist Pierluigi Lorenzetti, production is limited to just 5,000 bottles a year, making it a rare and precious excellence. The high value of the wine is confirmed by the 90 points awarded by Luca Maroni, a mark of superior quality. The label itself conveys a message of pure joy with the famous handwritten dedication: "Always be enthusiastic, this is the secret of happiness. Drink and smile!"

The name Santa Barbara pays homage to our land, our tradition and those we worship. The history of this place dates back to the 6th century when Senigallia was a Byzantine city and a Lombardic (and therefore "barbarian") outpost was
set up in a nearby village. Since then, that village took the name of Barbara which is where our winery is located today, having the privilege of being housed in an old monastery.

Our winery is located 25 km from the Adriatic Sea and is located on the hills that run between the Misa and Nevola rivers. Here a team of professionals works in the winery and vineyards every day, fuelled by passion, determination and a pinch of creativity so that our grapes maintain their beauty and express the quality of our land.
