Description
What kind of wine it is
The Cabernet Sauvignon Nexus by San Simone is an enveloping still red wine that expresses the winemaking identity of its territory. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it appears in the glass with an intense ruby red colour and bright violet highlights. The sensory profile is complex, characterised by a velvety and warm sip, where round and harmonious tannins blend with a pleasant structural freshness. On the palate, it is savoury and persistent, making it ideal for pairing with grilled meats, game, and hard aged cheeses such as Montasio.
Where it comes from
The roots of this wine lie in the heart of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, specifically in Azzano Decimo, within the Friuli Grave area. The vineyards are cultivated using the Guyot system, maintaining a low yield to ensure maximum concentration in the bunches. The terroir is characterised by an alluvial soil, composed mainly of limestone and clay. This specific matrix gives the vine an ideal nutritional balance, allowing for pronounced aromatic precision and a well-defined structure, fully enhancing the natural potential of the grape variety.
How it is produced
After the harvest, the bunches undergo careful destemming and a skin maceration of fifteen to twenty days in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Ageing begins in small oak barrels, continues in steel vats, and concludes with further rest in the bottle. This meticulous process enriches the bouquet with intense notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, masterfully intertwined with hints of vanilla and liquorice and delicate spicy nuances of cinnamon and cloves, offering a long and fruity persistence.
History and Curiosities
The name Nexus, from the Latin meaning “bond”, celebrates San Simone’s deep connection with ancient traditions and the rich Friulian land. Founded in 1915, the historic family winery pays tribute to an international grape variety that has been rooted in the territory of Azzano Decimo for over a century. This enveloping Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva thus becomes the pure expression of the prestigious DOC Friuli Grave, uniting the century-old passion of entire generations with an intense oenological experience, capable of conveying the authentic vocation of an entire region.

Later on handed over to our parents, Gino and Liviana convinced that to grow and improve we must always be open to change, which gave birth to a new production project: San Simone. An adventure that started from the historical Brisotto cellars, in Prata and later shifted to the new premises in Porcia, where the company accelerated its pace on the road to quality. This project aims to handle with care even a minimum detail, from the vineyard to the bottle.
