Description

Wine type

Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore L’Extra Brut Ruggeri is a Venetian sparkling wine with a Protected and Guaranteed Designation of Origin, obtained from a harmonious blend of Glera, Bianchetta, Perera and Verdiso grapes. Its sensory profile is distinguished by a dry and fresh style, animated by fine and elegant bubbles. On the nose, it releases a fragrant bouquet in which notes of yellow apple, pear and white peach blend with nuances of acacia and magnolia, enlivened by light citrus hints. The silky texture and continuous mousse on the palate are the result of a slow second fermentation and a period on the lees, culminating in a long and savoury-mineral finish, capable of leaving a clear and persistent aromatic trace.

Origin

This sparkling wine originates in Veneto, on the hills of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, within the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore territory. The grapes come from old vines reaching a century in age, located in famous plots such as San Pietro, Santo Stefano, Cartizze, Guia and Saccol. Collaboration with small local winegrowers allows Ruggeri to enhance the hilly landscape.

Production

The manual harvest takes place in September and is followed by white vinification conducted strictly without skin contact. The sparkling process begins the following spring via the Charmat Method, through a slow refermentation in large closed tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then matures with a three-month period on the lees, essential for providing structure and tactile complexity. This process management ensures a lively and persistent perlage, outlining a balanced flavour profile, characterised by pleasant freshness and a harmonious finish.

History and Curiosities

Heir to the prestigious tradition of the Bisol family, a pioneer in the art of sparkling winemaking since 1950, this refined Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG embodies the most authentic essence of the region. The grapes come from old vines aged 80-100 years rooted in the Venetian hills and cultivated with dedication by small local winegrowers.

Five generations of the Bisol family have shaped the development of a business that has a deep understanding of the future.

Ruggeri’s roots stretch far back to the nineteenth century, to Eliseo Bisol, who, along with his son Luigi was one of the first winemakers in Valdobbiadene. The business’s significant growth began in 1950 when Giustino Bisol founded the current winery with his cousin, and it was his surname, Ruggeri, that was chosen as the company name. The unswerving commitment to excellence continued with the work of Giustino’s son, Paolo, and granddaughter Isabella.

Since 2017, Ruggeri has been part of the Rotkäppchen-Mumm Group, a highly fruitful partnership which has paired our shared visions, trust in common values and a mutual commitment to ever higher quality standards.
