Description

What kind of wine it is

Chambave Muscat is a still white wine that embodies the spirit of the Aosta Valley. Made from Moscato Bianco grapes, it displays a crystalline straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is refined and elegant, characterised by floral notes intertwined with hints of white peach, sage and thyme. On the palate, it is dry and fresh, supported by good savouriness and a pleasant softness. Excellent as an aperitif, it pairs ideally with starters, omelettes, lean fish dishes and medium-aged cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the mountainous areas of the Aosta Valley, specifically from the Chambave region. The Rosset Terroir winery manages its vineyards at significant altitudes, practising rigorous heroic viticulture on the steep slopes of Villeneuve. Careful parcel selection allows the characteristics of the harsh alpine climate to be translated into a glass with a clear profile, capable of enhancing the freshness and varietal complexity of the original grape.

How it is produced

The winemaking process is designed to protect the delicate aromatic components of the grapes. Under the supervision of oenologist Matteo Moretto, the grapes are processed in modern facilities that preserve the integrity of the fruit. This attention maintains the primary fragrances intact, transforming meticulous agricultural work into an elegant and immediate sip. The production process thus outlined delivers a clean aromatic definition and a harmonious tasting experience, fully honouring the mountain environment from which the wine originates.

History and Curiosities

The Chambave Muscat 2022 from Rosset Terroir represents an outstanding example of the Valle d’Aosta DOC, the result of the experience of the Rosset-Levi family. The first vines, planted in 2001, marked the beginning of a true journey of heroic viticulture. Today, the estate manages thirteen hectares located on steep slopes, enhancing the prized Moscato Bianco through careful selection and modern planting techniques. Under the guidance of oenologist Matteo Moretto, the constant dedication to high-altitude viticulture ensures the production of extraordinary wines that are deeply faithful to the territory.

Rosset Terroir was born from a dream shared by the Rosset-Levi family. Distillers for generations, deeply connected to the mountains and to artisanal knowledge, they decided to plant their first rows of vines in the early 2000s, transforming their experience with aromas and botanicals into a new form of expression: wine.

The story began to take shape in 2001, with the planting of the first three hectares of vineyard in the municipality of Saint-Christophe, just outside Aosta. The first varieties grown were Chardonnay, Syrah, and the native Cornalin. In just a few years, the estate expanded its vineyard surface and selected new, highly suited plots, where Muscat Blanc, Pinot Gris, and additional parcels of Syrah were also introduced.

A turning point came in 2017, when Rosset Terroir ventured beyond 900 meters above sea level, in the village of Villeneuve. On particularly steep slopes, in a context of heroic viticulture, the cultivation of the traditional Petite Arvine grape variety comes to life, from which the winery’s flagship wine is born: the Sopraquota 900, awarded in 2021 as Italy’s Best White Wine by Gambero Rosso ‘s Vini d’Italia guide and included in James Suckling’s Top 100 World Wines in 2024.

Today, Rosset Terroir manages around 13 hectares of vineyards and produces approximately 50,000 bottles per year, carefully selecting the region’s most promising plots and combining the expertise of seasoned technicians with modern, functional facilities.
