Description
What kind of wine it is
Rolly Gassmann Alsace Kappelweg de Rorschwihr Gewurztraminer is an aromatic still white wine that expresses the unique characteristics of Alsace. Made from Gewurztraminer grapes, it appears in the glass with a clear golden yellow colour. The nose reveals a complex bouquet, led by distinct exotic fruit aromas that blend with pronounced mineral and spicy notes. On the palate, it shows a full-bodied structure, offering an enveloping taste progression and a notably persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in France, in the village of Rorschwihr, located in the northern part of the Haut-Rhin. Here, the Rolly Gassmann winery operates, managing vineyards spread between the communes of Rorschwihr and Bergheim. The heart of these vines' expressiveness lies in the geological composition of the soils: the alternation of clay, sand, limestone and granite provides varied nourishment to the plants, giving a strong and decisive character that supports the wine's aromatic complexity and establishes a clear connection to the territory.
How it is produced
The production focuses on enhancing the varietal aromatic profile, resulting in a structured and particularly long-lived wine. Its ability to evolve over time translates into an estimated ageing potential of up to ten years. To allow the bouquet to express itself optimally, it is recommended to decant for one hour before serving, ideally at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. The structural breadth of this wine pairs harmoniously with fish dishes, shellfish, poultry, mature cheeses and spicy dishes.
