Description

What kind of wine it is

Roagna Barbaresco Paje Vecchie Viti is a still red wine from Piedmont, made from Nebbiolo grapes. An expression of the prestigious Barbaresco area, it stands out for its structured and precise style, supported by a refined tannic texture and a savoury finish. The aromatic profile is clear, characterised by aromas of red fruit, ripe blackberry and sweet liquorice, enriched with balsamic and mentholated notes. This wine offers an authentic interpretation of the region, ensuring continuity of flavour and full adherence to the Pajè area.

Where it comes from

This red is born in the heart of Barbaresco, within the Pajè designation. Its uniqueness derives from the selection of historic vines, aged between fifty and eighty years. Through massal selection, the genetic origin of the vines is rigorously preserved. The deeply developed root system allows the extraction of nutrients from multiple layers of soil. This interaction results in a complex territorial expression, enhancing the pedoclimatic characteristics and ensuring an extremely limited production.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with fermentation in barrels, a technical choice that defines the wine's structure from the outset. Subsequently, the process involves maturation in barrels for 18 months, an essential period to complete the settling of the flavour texture and stabilise the aromatic profile. The entire approach reflects a close connection with the original vineyard, respecting the natural rhythms of the raw material. The final result maintains a perfect correspondence between nose and palate, finishing the tasting with a long and defined savoury trail.

The true heritage of the Roagna family vineyards are the old vines. Plants that are at least 50 years old, in some cases even up to 80 years old. Vines that continue to produce few grapes but of high quality. Care and attention is dedicated to this heritage in the various estate vineyards between the Barbaresco and Barolo areas, in order to obtain a final product of the highest level.

Wines that fully express terroir, in the true sense of the term, where the grape variety and its place claim recognisability and authenticity in the glass. This is the desire of Alfredo and Luca Roagna.
