Description
What kind of wine it is
Quintodecimo Taurasi Vigna Grande Cerzito Riserva is a still red wine that masterfully interprets the character of Aglianico grapes. This Campanian expression of Taurasi stands out for its deep aromatic profile, with clear notes of cherry and plum accompanied by hints of chocolate, mint and incense. On the palate, it reveals a powerful structure, balanced by silky tannins that lead the sip towards a long finish. The balance between concentration and freshness makes it ideal for pairing with red meats, robust dishes and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in Mirabella Eclano, in the province of Avellino. The vineyards are located at an altitude of over four hundred and fifty metres, benefiting from an ideal southern exposure for the perfect ripening of the bunches. The terroir is characterised by deep volcanic soil, composed mainly of ash and pumice. This well-drained, limestone-free land imparts a marked minerality to the wine, defining a rigorous and harmonious profile that faithfully reflects the characteristics of hillside viticulture.
How it is produced
Production begins with a careful manual selection of the bunches. The traditional vinification involves fermentation at a controlled temperature for about three weeks, maximising the extraction of colour and polyphenols. The wine is then aged in new oak barrels for a period ranging from eighteen to twenty-four months, enriching its aromatic structure. To enhance the structure and complexity of this Campanian red, it is recommended to decant it beforehand in order to fully appreciate every nuance.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 2001 in Mirabella Eclano from the vision of Luigi Moio, the Quintodecimo winery expresses Campanian excellence through the Vigna Grande Cerzito. This exclusive one-hectare vineyard, characterised by volcanic soils and optimal southern exposure, produces around two thousand fine bottles of Taurasi DOCG Riserva 2020. The meticulous manual harvest and ageing in new oak barriques give rise to a red wine with extraordinary ageing potential. Its silky texture envelops the palate, enhancing intense aromas of plum and chocolate.
