Description
What kind of wine is it
Barolo Serra di Prunotto is a red wine of great structure, the highest expression of the Nebbiolo grape variety grown in the heart of the Langhe. In the glass, it reveals a fresh aromatic profile, where fragrances of red fruits intertwine with hints of sage and undergrowth. The bouquet is enriched with elegant floral nuances of rose and violet. On the palate, this interpretation of Barolo stands out for its firm and powerful tannins, a complexity that makes it perfect for long ageing in the bottle.
Where does it come from
This wine originates from the eponymous Serra vineyard, a prestigious plot located in the southern sector of the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. Thanks to its south and east exposure, the vines enjoy ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes, which give the wine its typical tannic character. Historically recognised for its quality, this vineyard is mentioned in the Atlas of the Langhe Vineyards. The hillside microclimate, marked by significant temperature variations, is fundamental in shaping the clear and unmistakable aromatic profile of this Barolo.
How is it produced
Production is overseen by Prunotto, a historic winemaking estate in Piedmont. Under the guidance of oenologist Gianluca Torrengo, the Nebbiolo grapes are processed to enhance the authentic character of the region. To fully enjoy it, a serving temperature between 18 and 20 degrees is recommended, preceded by about an hour of decanting. With an ageing potential of up to fifteen years, it pairs superbly at the table with rich and structured dishes. It matches excellently with game and red meats, and is also ideal when paired with mature cheeses.
