Description

What kind of wine it is

Pira Luigi's Dolcetto d’Alba is a still red wine from Piedmont, made from the Dolcetto grape variety. This version of Dolcetto d’Alba presents a fresh and straightforward profile. In the glass, it displays a ruby red colour with violet highlights. The aromatic bouquet offers clear notes of red fruits, wild berries and cherry. On the palate, it reveals excellent harmony between the acidic and tannic components, providing a prolonged taste persistence and a balanced finish.

Where it comes from

This red originates in Serralunga d’Alba, in a highly renowned hilly area. The vines benefit from a northern exposure on calcareous-clay soil, ideal conditions for giving the sip a measured tannic texture and great fruit clarity. The cultivation of these grapes in the area has been documented since the late nineteenth century, demonstrating a continuity of production that defines the authentic identity of the region of origin.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, lasting about eight to ten days. This process ensures precise extraction and maintains a clean profile. This is followed by eight months of ageing carried out entirely in steel tanks. The absence of wood ageing enhances the smoothness of the sip and preserves the original aromatic fragrance, resulting in a harmonious and well-defined wine.

Our family has had a bond with the hills of Serralunga d'Alba since the end of the 19th century. Starting in the 1950s, Luigi Pira, together with his wife Rosa, transformed the estate into a wine-growing business, aiming to enhance the valuable product of Serralunga d'Alba. Our wines are the result of a journey through generations - from Luigi's grandparents to his granddaughters - a journey of traditions and devotion, of growth and an eye to the future. A journey that has taken place entirely in the generous grounds of Serralunga d'Alba.

The first step taken by Luigi marked a significant imprint for the company and, in the early 1990s, with the arrival of his sons Gianpaolo, Romolo and Claudio, the family began bottling their own wines, seeking the highest quality.
