Description
What kind of wine is it
Champagne Philippe Lancelot Grand Cru Chouilly Le Fond du Bateau Extra Brut is a refined Blanc de Blancs made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it stands out for its dry, vibrant and extremely precise profile. Visually, it displays a brilliant golden yellow colour, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers a clear bouquet where fresh fruity notes blend with deep mineral nuances. The Extra Brut dosage delivers a vertical and lingering sip, ideal paired with shellfish, delicate fish, white meats and cheeses.
Where does it come from
This Champagne originates from Chouilly, a renowned village classified as Grand Cru. Philippe Lancelot leads a family-run estate that carefully tends its vineyards, adopting strict biodynamic practices to protect soil vitality. Thanks to environmentally respectful viticulture, the winery is able to enhance the purest expression that Chardonnay achieves in this specific terroir. The result is a wine that faithfully reflects the chalky and mineral identity of its chosen territory.
How is it produced
The winemaking process aims to preserve the intrinsic elegance of the raw material. The secondary fermentation in the bottle, the heart of the Traditional Method, encourages a slow prise de mousse that defines the wine’s silky structure. Every step is designed to maintain varietal freshness and impeccable aromatic clarity. Thanks to its great balance on the palate, this wine shows excellent ageing potential, capable of maturing harmoniously in the cellar for several years.

Traditional viticulture with the first organic trials in 2010. Biodynamic practices have been adopted in all vineyards since 2012. We pursue the least invasive viticulture techniques.
My idea is to apprehend and express the DNA of each area as best as possible. Hence, harvest after harvest, according to my desire and my imagination, I aim to develop different cuvees with their own identity, true to the vintage.
I strive to express purity, distinctiveness and why not originality. This is why I created 'parcelles et coups de coeur' (single vineyards and favorites). Each label is the illustration of my feeling of the wine. Read more
