Description

What kind of wine it is

Pfitscher Pinot Nero Matan Riserva is a still red wine that captures the essence of mountain Pinot Noir. In Alto Adige, this wine develops an intense profile, led by notes of blackberry, liquorice and undergrowth, with hints of delicate spices. On the palate, it expresses a medium and elegant structure, defined by discreet and meticulous tannins. The dry and velvety sip is accompanied by a harmonious and persistent finish, ideal for refined pairings with red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the renowned plots of Montagna, in the Alto Adige region. The vines thrive on steep, mountainous vineyards at six hundred metres above sea level, benefiting from a truly alpine terroir. The marked nocturnal temperature variations impart a compact garnet hue and a concentrated, vigorous fruit. The Pfitscher winery manages production according to sustainable principles, aiming to express the essence of the high-altitude climate in a long-lived wine of profound finesse.

How it is produced

In the winery, the process protects the fruit through temperature-controlled fermentation. For about two weeks, continuous punching down of the cap is carried out in special vats, extracting the noble components with great precision. Maturation continues for over twelve months in oak barrels, enriching the bouquet with subtle woody nuances. A suitable period of bottle ageing completes the process, harmonising the flavour balance and delivering a clean sip, with chiselled tannins and a vibrant character.

History and Curiosities

The result of the dedication of the Pfitscher family, active since 1861, Pinot Nero Matan Riserva embodies the purest elegance of Alto Adige. This red wine originates in Montagna from steep vineyards located at 600 metres above sea level, where the significant temperature variations give the grapes an unrivalled intensity. Overseen by oenologist Hannes Pfitscher under the certified sustainability of CasaClima Wine, this wine expresses the authentic high-altitude terroir: a memorable oenological expression, celebrated by critics with the excellent score of 94/100.
