Description
What kind of wine it is
The Langhe Nebbiolo Bric Ginestra by Paolo Conterno, made from Nebbiolo grapes, displays a bright ruby red colour. The aromatic profile offers enveloping scents of violet, blackcurrant, morello cherry and mint. On the palate, it is refined and dry, characterised by a youthful and elegant body enriched with notes of ripe fruit. The sip stands out for being smooth and well-balanced, making this wine ideal for accompanying meat stews, game and medium-aged cheeses. To fully appreciate its structural texture, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees, thus ensuring a perfectly balanced tasting experience.
Where it comes from
This Piedmontese red originates in the prestigious Langhe area, from south-east facing vineyards situated at an altitude between three hundred and three hundred and fifty metres above sea level. The vines thrive on mainly clay and limestone soil, with optimal water retention. The plants are trained using the Guyot system with a density of four thousand vines per hectare. Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand during the first ten days of October, ensuring that only intact grapes reach the cellar to preserve the expressive purity typical of Nebbiolo.
How it is produced
The process begins with the immediate crushing and destemming of the freshly picked bunches. This is followed by maceration in vats, designed to allow a gentle extraction of the noble components present in the skins. After about ten to twelve days, the wine is drawn off, allowing fermentation to finish without further tannic input to promote maximum palate clarity. Ageing preserves the freshness and concludes at the end of the second winter. The wine boasts a marked capacity for evolution, ensuring an estimated longevity of 10-15 years.
History and Curiosities
The Langhe Nebbiolo Bric Ginestra 2022 by Paolo Conterno celebrates the excellence of the Piedmontese terroir thanks to grapes that are strictly hand-picked. This label, awarded 91 points by James Suckling, stands out for its delicate maceration which enhances its freshness and elegance. Bottled at the end of the second winter after the harvest, the wine expresses a youthful character but is capable of evolving masterfully, ensuring a longevity of 10-15 years. A prestigious creation that delivers in the glass all the vibrant purity of the original grape variety.
