Description
What kind of wine is it
Romagna Sangiovese Modigliana Ibbola by Mutiliana is a still red wine representing the Romagna Sangiovese Modigliana area. Made from Sangiovese grapes, it displays a ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals clear notes of red fruits accompanied by persistent mineral hints. On the palate, it boasts a vibrant and savoury texture, offering a balanced tasting experience that is purely focused on the integrity of the fruit.
Where does it come from
This red from the Apennines originates from vineyards tended by Mutiliana, spread across the three valleys of Acerata, Tramazzo and Ibola. The winery vinifies these plots separately to enhance the unique characteristics of each site. The estate is actively involved in Stella dell’Appennino, a network of local winegrowers established to protect and promote the rural landscape of the area.
How is it produced
The process begins with a rigorous selection of the grapes, overseen at every technical stage by oenologist Francesco Bordini. In the winery, long macerations are carried out to precisely define the aromatic and flavour profile of the raw material. The subsequent ageing takes place exclusively in cement vats, a method chosen to preserve the expressive clarity of the Sangiovese without any external alteration.
History and Curiosities
Produced on the slopes of the Apennines, Romagna Sangiovese Modigliana by Mutiliana was born from a project aimed at enhancing the local area, promoted by the Stella dell’Appennino association. Under the guidance of oenologist Francesco Bordini, grapes from just twelve hectares highlight the authentic identity of the local valleys. Thanks to careful selection, long macerations and exclusive ageing in cement, this DOC red is produced in a limited edition of ten thousand bottles, celebrated by critics with 92 points from Vinous.
