Description
What kind of wine it is
The Monte Rossa Franciacorta Sanseve Satèn Brut Magnum expresses the finest qualities of Chardonnay through the Traditional Method. In the glass, it reveals a pale straw yellow hue, enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, aromas of lily of the valley, citron and fragrant hints of baking emerge. The palate offers an enveloping and creamy texture, balanced by a fresh, savoury progression. The balance between elegance and structure is achieved through a skilful division of the musts' fermentation between steel and barrels.
Where it comes from
This cuvée originates in Bornato, in the heart of Franciacorta. The Monte Rossa winery has been cultivating its own vineyards since 1972, following a strictly artisanal approach. The soils host rows trained with the cordon spur and guyot methods, ensuring perfect ripening of the grapes. Meticulous selection in the vineyard enhances the qualities of the individual crus, demonstrating absolute dedication to sparkling wine production and constant attention to agronomic details.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest, followed by gentle pressing to extract only the free-run must. The different plots are vinified separately: the majority ferments in steel, while the remainder matures in oak barrels. The final blend undergoes secondary fermentation according to the Traditional Method. The Satèn style involves lower pressure compared to other types to achieve unmistakable softness, completed by ageing on the lees for over twenty-four months before the Brut dosage.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1972 in Bornato, Monte Rossa is a family-run winery that skilfully combines tradition and innovation. Dedicated exclusively to the production of Franciacorta DOCG, the company offers an elegant Satèn that masterfully interprets the regulations through the exclusive use of Chardonnay grapes and meticulous ageing on the lees for at least 24 months. The name Sansevé, an ancient Gaelic term meaning “health”, expresses the convivial spirit of this cuvée with its silky texture, created to make every toast unforgettable.
