Description
What kind of wine is it
Michel Rolland Val de Flores Malbec, part of the Michel Rolland Collection, is an organic Argentinian red wine made exclusively from Malbec grapes. In the glass, it displays garnet reflections and an intense aroma of blackberry, violet and cedar. On the palate, it is a dense and opulent wine, supported by creamy and silky tannins that envelop the sip. The tasting concludes with a persistent finish characterised by notes of liquorice and gingerbread, outlining a complex and structured profile.
Where does it come from
This Malbec originates from the Val de Flores vineyard, located in the Uco Valley at an altitude of 1,100 metres. Here, the marked diurnal temperature variation ensures optimal ripening and perfect aromatic balance of the grapes. The alluvial soils, rich in silt and gravel, nourish fifty-year-old vines fed by the pure meltwater from the Andes. These pedoclimatic conditions enhance the characteristics of the grape variety, giving the wine a distinct and unmistakable territorial identity.
How is it produced
Production follows sustainable practices, beginning with an early morning manual harvest to preserve the freshness of the fruit. After a double selection, fermentation takes place in small cement vats and new French oak barrels. This is followed by a prolonged thirty-month maturation in barrels, which smooths the structure and amplifies its softness. This careful process ensures remarkable ageing potential and makes it ideal paired with flavourful white meats or hearty first courses from traditional cuisine.
