Description
What kind of wine it is
Marina Cvetic Merlot is a still red wine that expresses the Merlot grape variety in the Terre Aquilane region. This label by Masciarelli stands out for its full and structured profile. On the palate, it is deep and vibrant, supported by firm tannins and a pleasant freshness. The bouquet is enveloping, characterised by notes of wild red fruits and morello cherries, which harmoniously intertwine with hints of spices, liquorice, leather and subtle touches of tomato leaf.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the vineyards of Ofena, a foothill area dominated by the Gran Sasso massif. The altitude ensures a marked daily temperature range, essential for preserving the freshness and aromatic definition of the grapes. The vines sink their roots into medium-textured soils, rich in stones and with a calcareous matrix. The Guyot training system ensures optimal vegetative balance and consistent ripening, enhancing the authentic character of the Apennine territory.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place at the end of September, with careful selection of the bunches. The vinification process begins with fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, accompanied by prolonged maceration on the skins. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels for twelve months, using first and second passage wood to calibrate the aromatic contribution. A further two years in the bottle completes the wine's evolution, ensuring a deep texture and a balanced structure.

In the constant and renewed work for innovation, but with respect for the environment and tradition, Masciarelli inaugurated, after a long restoration, Castello di Semivicoli, a seventeenth-century baronial mansion, which is now a Relais de Charme in the vineyards, a driving force of wine tourism in the area.
