Description
What kind of wine it is
Maculan Tre Volti Metodo Classico Brut enhances the essence of Chardonnay. It displays a bright straw yellow colour, enriched with green highlights and a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers elegant aromas of bread crust and peach, accompanied by delicate hints of fresh yoghurt. On the palate, it is dry and smooth, perfectly balanced with a lively citrus freshness. This Metodo Classico sparkling wine is ideal as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with shellfish, lean fish, cheeses, and refined dishes such as salt-baked sea bass.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Veneto, in the Breganze area. The region is characterised by an alternation of volcanic hills and gravelly plains, a combination that ensures optimal drainage. This particular geology gives the wine a fresh character and well-defined aromas. Maculan cultivates Chardonnay with the aim of enhancing the local terroir. The characteristics of the soil allow for the production of sparkling wine bases of excellent quality, capable of reflecting the authentic identity of Breganze through a fine and regular texture.
How it is produced
The manual and selective harvest is followed by gentle pressing, aimed at extracting only the noblest fraction of the free-run must. Fermentation takes place partly in steel tanks and partly in French oak barrels, ensuring great balance in the wine. The bottle refermentation, according to the principles of the Metodo Classico, involves 18 months of ageing on the lees. This slow maturation enriches the structural complexity before disgorgement, defining the wine’s long and pleasant persistence on the palate.
History and Curiosities
Born from the experience of the Maculan family, who have been enhancing the volcanic soil of Breganze since 1946, Maculan Tre Volti embodies a unique elegance. This Classic Method Brut Sparkling Wine, made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, benefits from gentle pressing and expert vinification between steel and French oak barrels. Ageing in the bottle on the lees produces fine and persistent bubbles, releasing aromas of bread crust, peach, and a lively citrus freshness. It is the ideal choice to accompany starters and exquisite fish dishes.

It was grandfather Giovanni who founded the actual winery, in 1947. Between the ‘50s and ‘60s he specialized in producing substantial quantities of white and red wines, which he distributed in large-sized bottles to osterie, trattorias and grocers’ shops, the so-called "casoini".
The revolution – from a quality point of view – was the work of Fausto. In 1973, after finishing his studies in Conegliano, he returned to the company and took over the reins of the business. In spite of some initial difficulties, his tenaciousness, thirst for knowledge and desire to experiment in both the vineyards and winery led the young oenologist to become one of the major innovators in Italian wine.
Today, Maria Vittoria and Angela share the running of the estate with their father Fausto. Thanks to their professionalism and enterprise, they represent the future of the Maculan company, focusing on technological innovation, sustainability and internationalization. Read more
