Description

What type of wine is it

Crozes Hermitage Les Meysonniers by M. Chapoutier is an organic red wine with a protected designation of origin that embodies the distinctive character of Crozes-Hermitage. Produced in the Rhône Valley from Syrah grapes, vinified and aged mainly in concrete, it offers a full and structured flavour profile, characterised by a broad and enveloping texture. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry, embellished with delicate floral notes of violet. The palate highlights dense and well-integrated tannins, leading to a persistent finish with elegant hints of stewed fruit, vanilla and cocoa.

Where it comes from

The vineyards are located in Crozes-Hermitage, in the Rhône Valley, a prime area for the cultivation of Syrah. The vines grow on alluvial terraces formed by the Rhône and Isère rivers, along south-facing slopes that favour optimal ripening of the bunches. The soil, composed of clay, gravel and pebbles, ensures excellent natural drainage. This synergy between terroir and climate gives the wine a remarkable aromatic definition, outlining a style focused on the richness of the fruit and a solid structure.

How it is produced

Production begins with a meticulous manual harvest, carried out at full maturity to select the best bunches. Vinification takes place in concrete tanks through maceration on the skins and careful pump-overs, necessary to extract colour and tannins harmoniously. The ageing process lasts for about twelve months and takes place largely in concrete to preserve varietal freshness. Part of the wine matures in large oak barrels, a step that gives the organoleptic profile greater complexity and structure.
