Description
What type of wine it is
Lanciani's Versante Est is an organic white wine from the Marche IGT (Typical Geographical Indication) with an artisanal character, made from Trebbiano grapes. It expresses a structured profile, with a bouquet ranging from scents of melon, peach and broom, enriched by delicate hints of almond. The ageing in wood gives the palate a textural roundness, offering a full and enveloping sip. The balance between the distinctive savouriness and freshness culminates in a persistent finish with clear hints of mango.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the heart of the Marche region, in the area of Montefiore dell’Aso, where the vineyards sit at an altitude of 450 metres. The vines, trained using the Guyot system, come from sixty-year-old old vines. This longevity, combined with the composition of the clay soil, is fundamental in defining the wine's identity, giving it density and a well-defined structure. The hilly setting also enhances the aromatic freshness, faithfully reflecting the essence of the territory.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest carried out in the last ten days of September. Fermentation takes place in ash wood barrels, a choice that enriches the aromatic profile from the very first stages. This is followed by six months of ageing on the fine lees, which is essential for expanding the complexity of the palate.
History and curiosities
This artisanal wine is produced from 60-year-old historic vines. An interesting fact regarding its production process is the fermentation, which takes place in unique 40-hl ash wood vats.
