Description
What kind of wine it is
Soldati Metodo Classico Brut by La Scolca is a Brut sparkling wine that elegantly expresses the unique qualities of Cortese grapes. Visually brilliant and lively, it stands out for its dense foam and a fine, continuous perlage. The bouquet combines intense fruity notes with delicate floral hints, enriched by fragrant touches of yeast and bread crust. On the palate, it is fresh, harmonious and balanced, with clear hints of apple and apricot accompanying the sip towards a pleasant almond finish. It pairs perfectly with fish dishes, sushi, shellfish and fried foods, and is also ideal as an aperitif.
Where it comes from
The production of this sparkling wine originates in the heart of Piedmont, in the Gavi area. The hills of this region represent the ideal terroir for the Cortese grape variety, which imparts aromatic clarity and lively freshness to the wine. The local microclimate favours the perfect ripening of the grapes, ensuring fruit with marked expressiveness. La Scolca's strong connection to these lands is reflected in a flavour profile that consistently embodies the characteristics of its territory of origin.
How it is produced
Vinification faithfully follows the Traditional Method, through a slow prise de mousse. The wine undergoes a long ageing on the lees of at least thirty-six months before disgorgement. This extended period is essential to enrich its structure, giving it a complex smoothness and encouraging the development of nuances that gently evolve towards honey and spices. Thanks to this meticulous process, the wine achieves its maximum structural harmony, presenting itself ready to be enjoyed without any need for decanting.
History and Curiosities
Born among the hills of Gavi, Soldati Brut fully expresses the mastery of the La Scolca winery. Produced exclusively from Cortese grapes, it matures patiently on the lees following the strict Traditional Method, which gives the wine elegance and harmony. The palate, characterised by a pleasant freshness and enhanced by a fine continuous perlage, fades into notes of almond and fragrant hints of bread crust. Awarded 90 points by James Suckling, this refined sparkling wine embodies the authentic excellence of the Piedmont region.
