Description

What kind of wine it is

Afix Riesling by Jermann is a still white wine with a semi-aromatic profile, an authentic expression of Venezia Giulia. Made from Riesling grapes, it displays a bright straw yellow colour with subtle greenish highlights. On the nose, it reveals an intense and persistent bouquet of apple, lime, tropical fruit and aromatic herbs. On the palate, ageing on fine lees imparts a velvety texture that harmoniously balances the dry flavour, vibrant backbone and lively minerality, making it the ideal companion for shellfish, seafood dishes and vegetable soups.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the heart of Collio, in Villanova di Farra, from vineyards with excellent south-west and north-east exposure. The vines sink their roots into the marl and sandstone of the Eocene flysch formation, a geological composition that ensures the wine's typical freshness and savouriness. The history of this label is linked to the Jermann family, who arrived in Farra in 1881 from Austria. Over the decades, the estate has strengthened its bond with the land, culminating in the opening of the cellar in Ruttars, designed to enhance the full potential of the Friulian soil.

How it is produced

The vinification of the Riesling grapes aims to strictly preserve the aromatic integrity and varietal freshness. The central stage of production involves slow maturation in contact with the fine lees combined with the bâtonnage technique. This meticulous stirring imparts a pleasant roundness, creating harmony between the grape's natural acidic energy and the tactile softness on the palate. The result is a white wine with excellent taste balance, which maintains pronounced tension in the glass, a dry finish and a fine velvety texture.

History and Curiosities

The elegance of this pure Riesling celebrates the centuries-old passion of the Jermann family, who settled in the Collio region of Friuli as early as 1881. Their profound artisanal dedication is expressed through expert maturation on fine lees, a technique that imparts a velvety texture to the palate. With its straw-yellow colour, the wine reveals persistent aromas of apple, lime, and tropical fruits. On the palate, its captivating lively minerality and dry taste intertwine in perfect balance, making it ideal for stylishly enhancing shellfish and vegetable soups.
