Description

What kind of wine it is

Cirò Bianco Mare Chiaro by Ippolito 1845 is a still white wine with a crystalline appearance, a true expression of the native Greco Bianco grape and the Cirò region. On the nose, it reveals an intense and persistent profile, with clear notes of tropical fruit, pear, peach and delicate white flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and direct, with a distinct Mediterranean character that culminates in a lingering marine and savoury note. Thanks to its versatility, it elegantly accompanies informal dinners, pairing perfectly with sushi and raw fish, or enhancing seafood pasta dishes, white meats and cheese boards.

Where it comes from

This white wine originates from the Cirò Marina area, along the Ionian coast of Calabria. The Greco Bianco vines take root close to the Ionian Sea, an environmental factor that decisively shapes the wine’s character. The constant proximity to the sea enriches the grapes with a marked minerality, ensuring an extremely clean and vibrant tasting sensation. This deep connection with the Ionian coast and its microclimate delivers an authentic territorial expression, conveying the vocation of the local landscape through a fragrant and luminous profile.

How it is produced

The winemaking process enhances the grapes through a precise two-stage harvest. The first picking preserves maximum freshness and aromatic integrity, while the second provides greater structure to the palate. The two components are then combined in a final blend. This meticulous oenological approach ensures an ideal balance between the intensity of the aromas and the vibrant gustatory tension, offering a harmonious tasting experience that fully highlights the Mediterranean and saline soul of Greco Bianco.

History and Curiosities

It was in 1845 when Vincenzo Ippolito embellished his initials on the country house in the Cirò marina between vineyards, olive groves and orange trees. In a very varied agriculture, the vines begin to play an important role, although the wine consumption was strictly local. With more than 160 years of history, Ippolito Winery is the oldest winery in Calabria. Located in the historic center of Cirò Marina, the heart of Calabrian viticulture, the farm includes an estate of over 100 hectares, distributed between gentle hills and sunny plains close to the Ionian Sea, located in the classical Cirò area. The corporate mission has always been the recovery and valorisation of native grape varieties such as Gaglioppo, White Greek, Calabrian and lastly the Sheep. Through constant research, the use of innovative techniques, direct control of all production processes, we seek in our wines elegance, exclusivity and identity with their own territory. A fascinating challenge faced in the sign of absolute quality. Today, the company boasts 14 labels on 4 continents, a fact that more than any other confirms a significant entrepreneurial dynamism.
