Description
What kind of wine it is
Champagne Hommage au Pinot Noir Brut by Henri Giraud is a Blanc de Noirs that enhances the essence of Pinot Noir. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it appears a golden yellow in the glass with a fine and persistent perlage. The aromatic profile is characterised by a fruity bouquet, finely interwoven with pronounced minerality. On the palate, it is dense and enveloping, distinguished by a creamy texture and a marked savouriness that leads the sip towards a long and structured finish.
Where it comes from
The origins of this cuvée trace back to Aÿ, a renowned village located in the heart of the Champagne region. This area is ideal for cultivating Pinot Noir, allowing the grape variety to express a complex structure and great aromatic precision. The geographical origin is clearly evident in the glass, where the imprint of the Aÿ terroir imparts distinctive mineral notes, ensuring an authentic profile that enhances the fruity nuances and the unique character of the place.
How it is produced
The production process is based on a natural approach. Vinification excludes the use of steel: the wine matures in Argonne oak barrels, with the integration of terracotta amphorae or small sandstone containers. These techniques enhance the intensity of flavour, giving an elegant and refined texture. This Brut pairs perfectly with a wide variety of starters, fine fish dishes, shellfish and selected cheeses.
History and Curiosities
Originating from Aÿ, Henri Giraud's Hommage au Pinot Noir Brut represents a prestigious declaration of love for pure Pinot Noir. This exceptional Champagne AOC stands out for its natural vinification with minimal intervention, foregoing the use of steel in favour of unique ageing in Argonne oak barrels and terracotta amphorae. The glass, produced with minimal sulphites and awarded 93 points by Vinous, encapsulates a Grand Vin de Champagne that enchants the palate with its fine perlage and refined creaminess.
