Description
What kind of spirit is this?
Vermut 1850 by Foletto is crafted from Trentino Chardonnay and Müller Thurgau, enriched by an infusion of twenty-five botanicals. At 16.5% alcohol, it blends sugar and caramel for a refined bittersweet balance. The profile is smooth and fresh, offering a rounded palate with delicate astringency and a clean finish. It is ideal savoured neat as an aperitif or as a structured base to elevate classic cocktails, maintaining a vibrant herbal character without feeling heavy.
Where does it come from?
Originating from Trentino-Alto Adige, this vermouth reflects the Foletto family’s deep apothecary expertise. Its identity is anchored in local regional wines, providing an elegant framework for complex aromatics. The selected botanicals are sourced from landscapes between the Dolomites and Lake Garda, areas renowned for their distinctive plant life. This geographical link defines the fresh herbal character, ensuring a precise interplay between sweetness and measured bitterness.
How is it produced?
Production follows the historic recipe created by pharmacist Giovanni Foletto, carried out artisanally in small batches. The method relies on slow maceration of botanicals within the wine base to gently extract complex herbal compounds. A precise hydroalcoholic infusion is then incorporated with sugar and caramel to finalise the flavour profile. Once opened, it is recommended to store this artisanal vermouth in a cool place to preserve its aromatic precision and refreshing tasting notes.

The distillery has an ancient tradition combined with a passion for liqueurs, herbs and innovation. The Foletto family has passed on this passion and care over time, ensuring that syrups and liqueurs are produced with the same care and professionalism as centuries ago.
The history of the Foletto family is certainly a captivating one: starting out as a pharmacy and pharmaceutical laboratory, the Foletto family began to expand their business into the production of liqueurs and syrups in the late 1800s.
The Foletto pharmacists have handed down from father to son this passion for truly artisanal things, continuing to produce syrups and liqueurs today with the same care and professionalism that they have done for centuries.
A small exhibition of the equipment used in the early 1900s has been open to the public since 2000 (renovated in August 2011 to include the old premises and furniture of the pharmacy, the original furnishings of which date back about 125 years). Read more
