Description
What kind of wine is it
The Moscato Giallo Secco from Erste e Neue is an aromatic white wine from Alto Adige. Characterised by a light golden colour, it releases elegant notes of yellow peach, nutmeg and lemon balm. On the palate, it offers a juicy and savoury sip, enlivened by a pleasant freshness and a slightly bittersweet finish. Its excellent and long persistence makes it ideal for accompanying starters and a variety of desserts.
Where does it come from
The Moscato Giallo grapes come from the hills of Caldaro, where they are grown on pergolas between 350 and 450 metres above sea level. The south-east exposure and the temperate Alpine climate maximise the intensity of the aromas. The vines sink their roots into a loamy-sandy soil rich in coarse gravel, with a slightly alkaline pH: optimal conditions that ensure limited yields of sixty-five hectolitres per hectare.
How is it produced
Vinification begins with a six-hour skin maceration, essential for extracting the intense varietal fragrance. The subsequent fermentation at a controlled temperature takes place in total absence of oxygen, a crucial step to preserve the primary aromas of the grape. The process concludes with ageing in stainless steel for four months, aimed at fixing the pronounced liveliness of this wine.
History and Curiosities
This Dry Yellow Muscat is the result of the union of two historic South Tyrolean wineries, with roots dating back to 1900. Produced by Erste+Neue in the renowned area of Caldaro, this aromatic still wine fully expresses the authenticity of the Alto Adige DOC thanks to vines grown on sandy-loam soils. The meticulous vinification in the absence of oxygen, followed by 4 months of ageing in stainless steel tanks, preserves the elegant floral aromas and notes of yellow peach, offering a fresh, juicy and long-lasting sip, ideal for accompanying light starters.
