Description
Style of wine
Marjan Simcic BRDA Classic Ribolla is a still Slovenian white wine that authentically highlights the character of Ribolla Gialla. In the glass, it presents a bright light yellow colour with delicate golden reflections. On the nose, it expresses a clean and refreshing profile, characterised by fragrances of lemon, green apple, citrus and grapefruit. On the palate, it reveals a full body supported by a perfect acidic harmony that balances the tasting, leading towards a finish with a distinct minerality.
Provenance
This wine originates from the renowned wine-growing area of Brda, also known as the Slovenian Collio. The estate boasts a long family history and is today led by the Marjan Simcic brand. The vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate that ensures optimal ripening of the bunches, keeping the gustatory tension intact. The vines take root in the famous land of Opoka, with calcareous and marly soils, fundamental elements for giving the wine structure and aromatic precision.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous selection of grapes from old vines, capable of offering naturally concentrated fruit. In the cellar, there is a maceration on the skins for twenty-four hours, a step that provides gustatory support without altering the finesse of the varietal. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks, activated exclusively by indigenous yeasts. This technical choice preserves the identity of the territory, delivering a dynamic and balanced sip.
History and interesting facts
Since 1860, the year in which Jožef Simcic planted the first vineyards in the Slovenian Collio, the historic Brda estate has celebrated the harmony between pure tradition and innovation. Today, Marjan Simcic, a member of the fifth generation, showcases the native Ribolla Gialla by cultivating old vines of around sixty years on prized limestone and marl soils, influenced by the Mediterranean climate.
