Description

What kind of wine it is

Blanquette de Limoux Le Moulin Brut from Domaine J. Laurens is a Traditional Method sparkling wine made from Mauzac and Chardonnay grapes. In the glass, it displays a crystalline straw yellow colour, enlivened by a fine and delicate perlage. On the nose, it reveals aromas of green apple, apricot and acacia flowers, enriched by delicate toasted nuances. The palate is silky and airy, marked by pronounced freshness that leads to a dry and clean finish, making it ideal to accompany starters and salmon-based dishes.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Languedoc-Roussillon, within the historic Limoux area. Blanquette de Limoux reflects the authentic identity of a region deeply dedicated to sparkling wine production. The name comes from a botanical peculiarity of the Mauzac grape, whose leaves develop a light fuzz that gives the vineyards a striking white sheen. Domaine J. Laurens was founded by a computer engineer turned winemaker, who has managed to enhance local varieties by creating a wine with a fresh and vibrant profile.

How it is produced

Production strictly follows the Traditional Method, ensuring technical precision and elegance. The blend is vinified to achieve a base with great structural clarity. The slow secondary fermentation in the bottle in contact with the lees shapes the softness of the sip and enriches its aromatic bouquet. The Brut dosage preserves an essential and balanced taste, highlighting the purity of the fruit and making it extremely easy to drink. As proof of the care taken at every stage, this wine has received the prestigious recognition of 90 points from Decanter.

The domain is located in the south of France, in the small village called "La Digne d'Aval", less than 5 kilometers from Limoux, a stone's throw from the famous old city of Carcassonne, one hour from Toulouse and two hours from Montpellier . Since the 80s, the domain processes only sparkling wines in "AOC" by Blanquette and Cremant de Limoux on 30 hectares. Story of a computer engineer from the region who reinvents himself as a vigneron at the time of retirement.

The company already set up over time by Michel Dervin, "champagnard" on the road, has everything to look good in the generous but rather closed context of Limoux. Low yields, the least invasive interventions possible, technologically advanced cellar. Only bubbles as the centuries-old tradition of this territory wants. Awards are based, above all, on the stratospheric price / quality ratio and the pleasant drinkability of its products.
