Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut from Diebolt-Vallois is a prestigious white wine made from Chardonnay grapes, embodying the essence of the Traditional Method. In the glass, the Champagne displays a bright straw yellow hue, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it reveals elegant fruity aromas, harmoniously blended with a distinct mineral component. The palate is rewarded with a fresh and savoury sip, characterised by remarkable persistence.

Where it comes from

This refined expression originates in the heart of Champagne, a region renowned for its winemaking excellence. The exclusive use of Chardonnay grapes gives the wine a taut style and a distinctive mineral imprint. The choice of the Blanc de Blancs type enhances the varietal purity and the terroir of origin, endowing the Chardonnay with pronounced vitality that translates into perfect balance and superior savoury flavour.

How it is produced

The production process follows the slow bottle refermentation required by the Traditional Method, a fundamental step in defining the wine's aromatic complexity. The Extra Brut dosage accentuates the essential nature of this Blanc de Blancs, highlighting its tension and verticality. This technical care results in a dry, balanced tasting experience with excellent flavour persistence, ideal to serve without the need for decanting.

From this winery
  • Start up year: 1978
  • Hectares: 13
The champagne house Diebolt-Vallois is to be found in Cramant, a village in the "Côte des Blancs", whose chalky soil makes the perfect home for chardonnay vines. It is certainly one of the finest terroirs in the Champagne region and is the realm of "blanc de blancs" champagnes (champagnes made from white grapes - chardonnay).

Diebolt-Vallois champagnes are the progeny of a united family:
Jacques Diebolt and Nadia Vallois are helped by their two children, Arnaud and Isabelle, who are taking an ever increasingly active part in the running of the estate.

The Diebolt family has lived in Cramant since the end of the 19th century, and the Vallois family has been cultivating vines in Cuis since the 15th Century. Although Jacques Diebolt started working with his grandfather, it was not until 1978 that the estate underwent a sea-change with the extension of the estate and the construction first of all of cellars, and then a winery.
