Description

What kind of wine it is

Meunier Perpetuel Extra Brut is a Champagne Blanc de Noirs that enhances the qualities of Pinot Meunier. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, enlivened by a fine perlage. The bouquet reveals clear fruity aromas, enriched by sweet notes of brioche. On the palate, it is a dry, rich and enveloping Extra Brut, characterised by remarkable complexity. Its structured profile pairs perfectly with shellfish, white meats and cheese selections.

Where it comes from

This sparkling wine originates in Vandières, in the Vallée de la Marne, a region renowned for viticulture. The Delouvin Nowack winery is a family-run business managed with artisanal dedication by Bertrand Delouvin. The geological features of the soil are fully expressed in this Blanc de Noirs, giving the Champagne a defined varietal identity and excellent expressive finesse. Work in the vineyards aims to transfer the authentic essence of the terroir into the glass.

How it is produced

The winery produces this wine using the Traditional Method and carefully manages a perpetual reserve with the solera system. The base wines rest between stainless steel tanks and partially filled barrels, creating a blend that ensures great structural depth. Subsequently, the prise de mousse requires a long maturation on the lees, an essential process for the full development of tertiary aromas. The low final dosage preserves the natural tension and freshness of the cuvée.

History and Curiosities

Originating from Vandières, in the renowned Vallée de la Marne, this exceptional Blanc de Noirs by Delouvin Nowack celebrates pure Pinot Meunier. Bertrand Delouvin continues the family tradition by creating this cuvée from a majestic perpetual reserve started in 1992. The Champagne matures in steel and partially filled barrels following the solera method, refining itself with a long period on the lees. The result is an Extra Brut that is intensely enveloping, enhanced by a fine perlage, elegant fruity aromas and irresistible notes of brioche.

Arriving in Champagne from Paris the first area you meet is the Vallée de la Marne, a beautiful valley characterized by beautiful vineyards that degrade towards the river, vineyards whose undisputed king is the Pinot Meunier. In one of the villages of the Vallée, Vandières, we meet Bertrand Delouvin, a very welcoming vigneron who dedicates his excellent work almost exclusively to Pinot Meunier.

The Delouvin, winemakers in these areas since the 1500s, have started marketing champagne since 1949; Mr Bertrand cultivates the 6 hectares of property (5 vines to Pinot Meunier and 1 to chardonnay for the vintage cuesée Extra Sélection) in a rigorous manner, personally carrying out all the operations of winemaking and analysis, to ensure the specificity of its champagne and the result they are very pleasant champagne, which meet the favor of many tasters thanks to the particularity of pure Pinot Meunier vinified in a simple way, without frills or excess.
