Description
What kind of wine it is
Casanova della Spinetta Chianti Riserva is an authentic Tuscan red, produced by La Spinetta exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby hue, opening with elegant notes of ripe blackberry, thyme and subtle hints of cocoa. The palate is deep, driven by a lively and balanced acidity that supports the entire structure. The enveloping tannins accompany the sip towards a persistent finish with clear mineral undertones.
Where it comes from
This expression of Sangiovese originates in the territory of Terricciola, between Pisa and Volterra. The vineyards, cultivated organically, are located at three hundred metres above sea level, with a south-east exposure ideal for perfect ripening. The flavour profile derives directly from the sandy soils, of marine origin and rich in oceanic sediments. These territorial conditions give the wine a distinct mineral character and a trajectory of great elegance.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats for about two weeks, carefully extracting the polyphenolic components. Malolactic fermentation takes place in second-use French oak barrels, consolidating the structure. The wine then rests for twenty-four months in the same barrels, before concluding with bottle ageing that perfectly integrates the aromas and imparts final harmony to the palate.
History and Curiosities
The result of a Tuscan project launched in 2001 by the Rivetti family, this Chianti Riserva DOCG embodies the authentic winemaking vocation of Terricciola. Created under the expert guidance of oenologist Giorgio Rivetti, the wine is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown according to the principles of organic farming. The thirty-year-old vines sink their roots into sandy soils of marine origin at an altitude of 300 metres, giving the wine a mineral and complex character. A prestigious wine, ideal to enjoy immediately or to keep over time.
