Description
What kind of wine it is
Campo alle Comete Albablu Vermentino is a still white wine from Tuscany, a pure expression of the Bolgheri region. To the eye, it displays a bright yellow colour with delicate greenish highlights. The bouquet is characterised by intense citrus notes of grapefruit and subtle floral hints. On the palate, this Vermentino reveals a medium body and a lively freshness, supported by a pronounced mineral component that imparts savouriness and balance. Its persistent finish makes it ideal for pairing with seafood risottos and shellfish starters. It beautifully enhances Japanese cuisine and sushi, and also pairs perfectly with white meats and cheeses.
Where it comes from
It originates in the coastal landscape south of Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of Bolgheri. The hillside vineyards benefit from a warm climate, tempered by refreshing sea breezes. The constant ventilation and marked daily temperature variation favour optimal fruit ripening. The soils present a mosaic of sandy and calcareous earth, enriched with clay and stones. This geological composition is essential for giving the wine its profound mineral savouriness, allowing the Vermentino to express great aromatic definition in an area where the production of white grape varieties is limited.
How it is produced
The process involves a fractioned harvest of the Vermentino grapes, split between an early and a later picking to create a blend that combines freshness and aromatic richness. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, an ideal method for preserving the purity of the primary aromas. The wine then undergoes a brief period on fine lees, a crucial step to enhance palate softness without compromising the wine's natural vibrancy. The production cycle is completed with a short final maturation.

The name Campo to Comets comes from a historical name of the area where the company is based, that "disappeared" over time.
The first signtature wine from Campo alle Comete is 'Stupore', a Bolgheri DOC, from 2015's harvest. The name was chosen to reflect tradition and experience but also poetry and imagination and to amaze, with memorable flavours and tastes.
Campo alle Comete Rosastella 2021 was awarded 92 points by Wine Enthusiast, and is also among the six rosés of the year. Read more
