Description
What type of wine it is
The Calvet Crémant de Bordeaux Extra Brut sparkling wine by Maison Calvet is a refined expression of the Bordeaux character, with a Protected Designation of Origin. Produced using the Traditional Method, it is made from a blend of Merlot and Sémillon. The low residual sugar defines its Extra Brut profile, offering a dry, vertical and taut sip. On the palate, it stands out for its vibrant acidity and clear minerality, supported by fine and persistent bubbles leading to a harmonious finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the Bordeaux region, a prime area for quality viticulture. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils, capable of giving the wine a distinctive aromatic precision. This geological imprint is manifested in a straw-yellow appearance with greenish reflections. The pedoclimatic characteristics ensure an ideal balance between freshness and structure, fundamental prerequisites for bottle fermentation.
How it is produced
Production involves a manual harvest, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. The sparkling wine process according to the Traditional Method is completed with twenty months of ageing on the lees. This maturation period gives the wine a creamy texture and notes of brioche and bread crust. On the nose, the bouquet reveals hints of green apple, pear, white flowers and lemon sorbet, closing on the palate with a fresh and mineral sensation of extreme cleanliness.
