Description
What kind of wine it is
Ca Maiol Negresco is an enveloping red wine from Benaco Bresciano, created as the first red grape label from the Ca Maiol winery. This blend skilfully combines the Groppello, Barbera, Sangiovese and Marzemino varieties. On the palate, it offers a fleshy and full-bodied structure, supported by silky tannins and a pleasant freshness. On the nose, it releases an intense bouquet of cherry and plum, enriched by notes of dark spices and tobacco. Thanks to its harmonious finish, it pairs beautifully with baked pasta dishes, grilled meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes for Ca Maiol Negresco grow in the vineyards of Valtènesi, located on the southern shore of Lake Garda. This Brescia area enjoys a mild climate, tempered by the lake basin, which provides an ideal environment for optimal grape ripening. The Valtènesi area imparts a distinct regional character to the wine. These soil and climate conditions help shape a dynamic flavour profile, capable of maintaining a perfect balance between enveloping warmth, tannic texture and fresh acidity.
How it is produced
The production of this red begins with manual harvesting and partial drying of the grapes, which enhances their concentration and smoothness. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks involves a long period on the skins to ensure a decisive extraction of structure. Ageing continues for over a year in French oak barrels, blending the tannic texture and enriching the aromatic profile. This rigorous production method shapes a wine with complex nuances, offering a persistent finish dominated by notes of ripe fruit, dark spices and toasted hints.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1988 as the winery's first red label, Ca Maiol Negresco pays tribute to the elegance of the famous Hôtel Negresco in Nice. This Benaco Bresciano IGT 2023 encapsulates the essence of Valtènesi, masterfully blending Groppello, Barbera, Sangiovese and Marzemino. Thanks to the partial drying of the grapes and skilful maturation in French oak barriques, it releases a warm and enveloping sip, enhanced by silky tannins. Awarded 91 points by Luca Maroni, it offers a tasting experience of rare and unforgettable finesse.

Starting with a single farmhouse, over the decades it has expanded both in terms of structures and vineyards, thus expanding a unique offer for the denomination. We are in the Lugana area, a harmony of flavours and atmospheres that extends south of Lake Garda over a unique territory.
The calcareous soil, the result of a millennial process, and the typical lake climate contribute to making this an ideal place for growing vines. It is here that delicate white wines with an unmistakable freshness are born, wines that are genuine expressions of the territory in which they are born. Read more
