Description
Type of wine
Molin Lugana Superiore is a Lombard white wine by Cà Maiol, an authentic expression of the Trebbiano di Lugana grape variety vinified in steel and oak barrels. This wine stands out for its dry and structured sensory profile, supported by a crisp freshness and fragrances of kiwi, lavender, almond, and yellow-fleshed fruit. On the palate, the marked mineral savouriness makes the sip dynamic and concentrated, enriched by a toasted spiciness ideal for pairing with lake fish, sushi, and soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes originate in Desenzano del Garda, in the famous belt south of Lake Garda. The area boasts old vines over forty years old, which take root in limestone and clay soils particularly rich in mineral salts. The unique geology, combined with the lake's thermoregulatory action, promotes a slow and gradual ripening of the clusters. The meeting of the soil's richness and the temperate microclimate defines the distinct savoury character of the wine, offering a faithful interpretation of Lugana Superiore.
How it is produced
Production begins with the manual harvest and the cooling of the grapes to preserve their aromatic profile. After soft pressing, the must undergoes low-temperature cryomaceration in steel tanks, staying in contact with the skins for over forty-eight hours. This is followed by ageing on fine lees to provide body and structure. A small part of the wine ferments and matures in small, used oak barrels. The process concludes with an essential rest in the bottle, aimed at harmonising the complexity of the flavour profile.
History and Insights
Founded in 1967 on the shores of Lake Garda, Cà Maiol masterfully blends tradition with a vision for the future. The prestigious Lugana Superiore DOP takes its name from the ancient vineyard adjacent to the estate, where old vines over forty years old thrive in an exceptional clay terroir. Under the careful guidance of oenologist Loris Vazzoler, this excellence comes to life in an innovative underground cellar. The result is an award-winning white wine from Lombardy, awarded 93 points by Luca Maroni and a silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Starting with a single farmhouse, over the decades it has expanded both in terms of structures and vineyards, thus expanding a unique offer for the denomination. We are in the Lugana area, a harmony of flavours and atmospheres that extends south of Lake Garda over a unique territory.
The calcareous soil, the result of a millennial process, and the typical lake climate contribute to making this an ideal place for growing vines. It is here that delicate white wines with an unmistakable freshness are born, wines that are genuine expressions of the territory in which they are born. Read more
