Description
What type of wine it is
Súere Lugana Riserva by Cà Maiol is a structured white wine from Veneto, matured in stainless steel and French oak barrels, which expresses the authenticity of Turbiana, a grape variety also known as Trebbiano di Lugana. In the glass, it shows an intense straw-yellow colour with golden reflections, a prelude to a broad bouquet that blends notes of citron, yellow melon and peach with spicy touches of cumin and ginger, which evolve into elegant hints of lavender and saffron. On the palate, it offers a profile built on freshness and savouriness, providing a silky texture that finishes with a persistent mineral tone.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Desenzano del Garda, in the heart of Lugana. The vineyards are rooted in clay marl soils with limestone components, which are fundamental in giving the wine a solid structure and a marked savoury imprint. The lakeside microclimate, tempered by Lake Garda, favours the optimal ripening of the bunches, balancing the richness of the fruit with a natural freshness. Through sustainable agricultural practices, Cà Maiol enhances this terroir, delivering a faithful expression of the territory and a profound gustatory tension.
How it is produced
The production process involves a careful manual selection of bunches from the oldest vines, with very low yields. Maturation lasts for over a year, with the wine divided between stainless steel and French oak barrels. This stage enriches the profile with slight smoky nuances and hints of toasted almond, which are perfectly integrated. The final rest in the bottle for at least six months allows the various components to harmonise, resulting in a taste with a creamy texture, which is dynamic and long-lasting.
History and curiosities
Founded in 1967 in Desenzano del Garda, Cà Maiol enhances the clayey terroir and the lakeside microclimate, creating wines with an exceptional personality. Led by Loris Vazzoler, who applies sustainable practices over an area of 110 hectares, the winery produces the renowned Súere Lugana Riserva, obtained from the oldest vineyards with low yields. This white wine, with an ageing potential of up to 10 years, has been awarded 4 AIS Vines and 3 Gambero Rosso Red Glasses, confirming its status as an excellence celebrated by the Italian Sommelier Foundation.

Starting with a single farmhouse, over the decades it has expanded both in terms of structures and vineyards, thus expanding a unique offer for the denomination. We are in the Lugana area, a harmony of flavours and atmospheres that extends south of Lake Garda over a unique territory.
The calcareous soil, the result of a millennial process, and the typical lake climate contribute to making this an ideal place for growing vines. It is here that delicate white wines with an unmistakable freshness are born, wines that are genuine expressions of the territory in which they are born. Read more
