Description

What kind of wine it is

Corte del Lupo Rosso is an elegant still wine from the Curtefranca denomination, created from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carménère. To the eye, it displays a deep ruby hue with violet highlights. The bouquet offers aromas of ripe red fruit and wild berries, intertwined with notes of liquorice, violet, aromatic herbs and a hint of spice. On the palate, it expresses character and remarkable elegance, where smoothness meets graceful tannins and a pleasant savouriness, fading into a mineral finish. To enhance its qualities, it is ideal to decant for an hour before serving alongside red meats, pork, game and cheeses.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Lombardy, in the area of Erbusco, a renowned region that defines the identity of the Curtefranca denomination. The grapes come from eight selected vineyards, cultivated to ensure low yields and high quality. Harvesting takes place between the second and third week of September, following an approach aimed at maximum aromatic purity. The microclimate and soils allow the grape varieties to express themselves at their best, resulting in a product with a distinctly territorial profile, capable of balancing the freshness of the fruit with an intriguing spicy evolution over time.

How it is produced

The Ca’ del Bosco process begins with manual harvesting, followed by an exclusive system of washing and drying the bunches. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place under precise temperature control, accompanied by daily punch-downs and pump-overs carried out using lifting tanks to exploit gravity. Ageing lasts about twenty-one months, during which the wine rests in stainless steel and wooden barrels to enrich its structure. Finally, it is bottled by gravity, a technique that prevents oxidative stress and preserves the original aromatic integrity.

History and Curiosities

Ca’ del Bosco Corte del Lupo Rosso 2022 is an award-winning Curtefranca DOC with 3 Veronelli stars, combining the strength of the wolf with the wisdom of man. The grapes from eight vineyards, hand-picked, undergo the “grape spa”, a washing and drying system that ensures maximum purity. After 21 months of ageing between wood and steel, the innovative gravity bottling process avoids oxidative shocks, preserving the wine’s aromatic integrity and remarkable elegance.

Ca' del Bosco is the mainstay of the Franciacorta terroir. The Ca' del Bosco wineries were founded in the mid-1960s by Annamaria Clementi Zanella, who bought a modest house of the same name in Erbusco, which was endowed with vineyards and woods. However, her son, Maurizio Zanella, started wine production, enhancing the terroir's characteristics and transforming that small house into one of Italy's most productive wineries. In fact, these cellars are distinguished for producing the famousCa' del Bosco sparkling wine, which is characterised by its elegant yet strong personality given by intense, juicy aromas and fullness of flavour. Today Ca' del Bosco is a well-established business, producing numerous labels, including still wines, both red and white, and Franciacorta for which Xtrawine has reserved a place of honour. You can choose from bottles of the best vintages from 2008 with an ageing capacity of between 15 and 25 years that will bring out the best in all your dishes: from pasta to fish and shellfish to dessert, the fruity notes will envelop your palate with every sip.
