Description

What kind of wine is it

The Grande Cuvée del Fondatore Motus Vitae by Bortolomiol is a white Extra Brut sparkling wine from Veneto, a Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore with controlled and guaranteed designation of origin, produced using the Charmat Method to enhance the purity of the Glera grape. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is fragrant, refined and aromatic, characterised by an elegant floral note. On the palate, the sip is clean, fruity and harmonious, with a clear freshness perfectly balanced by a solid structure.

Where does it come from

This sparkling wine originates in Veneto, among the steep rows of the Rive di San Pietro di Barbozza. This exclusive subzone of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore is renowned for its steep slopes, ideal for imparting precision and character to the Glera. The vines are cultivated using the classic modified cappuccina system. This cuvée is a heartfelt tribute to the founder Giuliano, a pioneering and fundamental figure in the qualitative growth of the entire region.

How is it produced

After harvesting in the second decade of September, vinification follows a process of gentle pressing and fermentation at a controlled temperature. The prise de mousse takes place through a long Charmat Method, with a ten-month period on the lees in autoclave, followed by a period of bottle ageing. This slow maturation gives the wine a particular gustatory harmony. Its dry profile pairs ideally with shellfish and lean fish such as turbot, and also elegantly accompanies delicate dishes based on white meats.

History and Curiosities

Created to honour the pioneer Giuliano, creator of the first Prosecco Brut, the Grande Cuvée del Fondatore Motus Vitae embodies the authentic soul of Valdobbiadene. This fine Millesimato, produced with grapes grown on the steep Rive di San Pietro di Barbozza, faithfully enhances the nuances of the vintage. The profound connection to the land is also reflected in the packaging, which evokes the colours of the earth and sky. The excellence of this sparkling wine is attested by the highest oenological awards, including the coveted Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso and 94 points from Falstaff.

"Giuliano left us a great gift, the desire to look forwards always and imagine the future, among the traditions of our hills and with the constant desire to get better" (Bortolomiol Family)

This is the legacy left by Giuliano to his wife Ottavia and their daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Luisa and Giuliana, who with a "natural" instinct have not only maintained what their father built up but have also taken on new challenges to ensure the revolution does not come to an end.

Bortolomiol is a strong and tight-knit family made up entirely of women: the mother, the soul and linchpin of this company, and the sisters, the beating heart, who guide and support the family business in the continual challenges to achieve quality, efficiency and effectiveness with an outlook that is always competitive.
