Description
What kind of wine it is
Patagonia by Bodega Noemia is a still red wine that expresses the authenticity of the Argentine Malbec grape variety. In the glass, it reveals an intense ruby red colour, introducing an aromatic profile defined by clear notes of red fruits and hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is smooth and full-bodied, supported by a precise tannic structure that ensures a structured sip. Its profile enhances the succulence of meat dishes, pork-based preparations and mature cheeses. To fully enjoy it, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature between sixteen and eighteen degrees.
Where it comes from
This red originates in Patagonia, in the Mainqué area, from the restoration of a historic vineyard. The project is the result of the dedication of Noemi Marone Cinzano and Hans Vinding-Diers, who restored vines planted in 1932. These historic pre-phylloxera ungrafted vines are protected by a rigorous massal selection, making each plant genetically distinct and ensuring high biodiversity. The small plot of one and a half hectares is divided into four independently managed parcels, allowing targeted agronomic care for each section of land.
How it is produced
Production is based on meticulous processing of the Malbec grapes. The harvest is divided to ensure separate fermentation in custom-made open fermenters. Afterwards, the wine matures through careful ageing in French oak barrels, an essential step to integrate the aromas and smooth the tannins. The independent management of the batches gives the final product great balance and remarkable ageing potential, allowing it to evolve favourably in the cellar for a period of between ten and fifteen years.
History and Curiosities
This fascinating wine originates in Mainqué, Patagonia, from the vision of Noemi Marone Cinzano and the oenologist Hans Vinding-Diers. The heart of the project is the restoration of a historic Malbec vineyard with precious pre-phylloxera vines, planted on their own roots in 1932, which preserve an unrivalled genetic biodiversity. The grapes harvested from these 1.5 hectares are divided into four plots and vinified separately in open French oak fermenters. The maturation in oak enhances the elegance of this red, acclaimed by critics.
