Description
What kind of wine it is
Bava Langhe Nebbiolo best expresses the structure and elegance of the Nebbiolo grape variety. It displays a lively ruby colour and a bouquet of cherry, small red fruits and violet, enriched by delicate spicy notes and hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is dry, savoury and full-bodied, with a harmonious balance between smoothness and a texture of rounded tannins. The persistent finish makes it ideal for pairing with grilled meats, game and mature cheeses. It is recommended to decant it an hour before serving and enjoy it at a temperature between 14 and 18°C.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in the Scarrone cru in Castiglione Falletto, located in the heart of the Barolo area in Piedmont. The Bava winery's vineyards are situated at three hundred metres above sea level on clay-limestone soil rich in white marl alternating with sand. The south-east orientation ensures optimal exposure to the morning sun, guaranteeing regular and consistent ripening of the bunches. This territorial vocation translates into a defined and long-lived flavour profile, in perfect harmony with the identity of the Langhe.
How it is produced
The harvest is done by hand. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in large untreated French oak barrels, accompanied by manual punching down to encourage the extraction of colour and tannins. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in steel tanks, while subsequent maturation in barrels adds complexity to the structure, preserving the integrity of the Nebbiolo grape. The process concludes in spring with bottling and a final ageing period, necessary to achieve perfect balance before release.
