Description

What kind of wine it is

The Asti sparkling wine by Banfi is a sweet white wine that enhances the qualities of Moscato Bianco. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, intense aromas of peach and citrus emerge, enriched by delicate hints of acacia flowers and sage. The palate reveals a harmonious and graceful structure, able to balance the natural fruity sweetness with lively effervescence and a fresh acidity with great balance.

Where it comes from

This label originates in Piedmont, at the heart of the Asti production area, a region with a strong winemaking tradition. The vine roots sink into calcareous-clay soils, a geological composition that gives the wine a clean profile and supports its fragrant character. The particular terroir allows the distinctive aromatic traits of Moscato Bianco to fully develop, offering an easy-drinking wine ideal for enhancing convivial moments.

How it is produced

The sparkling process overseen by Banfi uses the Charmat method, with fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. The process is halted by cooling to preserve the natural residual sugar and maintain the liveliness of the mousse. Best served chilled, it harmoniously rounds off a meal alongside petits fours, strawberries and hazelnut cake, and also proves interesting when paired with semi-mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

Produced by the Banfi winery, founded in 1978 by combining a passion for winemaking with innovation, this elegant Asti DOCG expresses the true vocation of Piedmont. Recognised by the Italian Sommelier Association and overseen by oenologist Matteo Bagnoli, it is made from 100% Moscato Bianco grapes expertly crafted using the Charmat method. A sweet sparkling wine that captures the essence of the region, celebrating its tradition through vibrant freshness and bubbles of absolute refinement.

Founded in 1978 by the vision of Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, Banfi represents a marriage of winemaking passion and technological innovation. Through collaboration with Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's most eminent winemakers, the land purchased in Montalcino was transformed into a crucible of quality and potential. The acquisition of the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone subsequently further enriched the portfolio, integrating the sparkling wine tradition of Piedmont into the Banfi world.

Always pioneers, we value research and people, respecting the territories in which we work. For a better wine world. We see a global and connected world, where differences are wealth. The products of our land, to be defended and enhanced, are the best expression of human labor and ingenuity.

This elegant sweet sparkling wine enhances the end of a meal, harmoniously accompanying pastries, fresh strawberries and the typical Piedmontese hazelnut cake. Its pronounced freshness also invites surprising and unconventional pairings with starters and semi-mature cheeses. It should be served strictly at 5-8 °C to enhance the fine bubbles and its light, fruity character.
